Installation, Registration, and Activation Instructions

Thank you for choosing Sage Simply Accounting. The following steps will guide you through installing, registering, and activating your Sage Simply Accounting.

  • Step 1 : Install Sage Simply Accounting
    1. Start the Installation Wizard:
      • If you have a Sage Simply Accounting CD, insert this in your CD drive.
      • If you have downloaded Sage Simply Accounting from our website, please double-click on the .exe file.
    2. Select your preferred language for installation and click OK. Then click Install Sage Simply Accounting.
    3. Select your preferred language for Sage Simply Accounting, then click OK.
    4. You will be asked "Will you use Sage Simply Accounting on this computer?". Select Yes, then click Next.
    5. Your product Serial Number is located in your CD case. Choose I have a serial number, enter your serial number, then click Next. If you are not able to locate this serial number, please retrieve it from the Sage Customer Portal.
    6. Read the license agreement then click I Agree.
    7. If you use Windows Firewall, you will be asked to have your firewall automatically configured. Click Yes (recommended) then click Next.
    8. If your computer has additional firewall software running, you will be presented with a list of Sage Simply Accounting files which you must allow or unblock for Sage Simply Accounting to run properly. Configure your firewall to allow these files and click Next when ready.
    9. Click Next to install Sage Simply Accounting in the default location.
    10. You will then be asked to select the installation type. Select Typical: Install the most common features (Recommended) then click Next.
    11. Review your installation choices and click Install.

    You can use Sage Simply Accounting up to 15 days without activation. You must activate by the 15th day to continue using the software.

  • Step 2 : Register Sage Simply Accounting

    There are two ways to register Sage Simply Accounting:

    Register Online at Sage Customer Portal

    The easiest and most efficient registration method is to register online at Sage Customer Portal.

    Following registration, you will receive a registration confirmation email containing your activation information.

    ATTENTION: Sage Business Care customers
    As a Sage Business Care customer, your upgrade product has already been registered! For tips on how to register and activate your Sage Business Care upgrade, please visit our upgrade page, under 'How do I upgrade?'

    (If you purchased your software directly from Sage Simply Accounting, please skip Step 2 and proceed to Step 3. Your activation information should have been sent to you from our sales agents after your purchase.)

  • Step 3 : Activate Sage Simply Accounting

    Be sure to have the registration information from the email that was sent to you before attempting to activate.

    1. Launch Sage Simply Accounting.
    2. Click on the Activate Now button from the Product Registration screen.
      • Company Name: Enter your company name as it is shown in your email
      • Serial Number: This field should be already populated. If not, please log on to the Sage Customer Portal to retrieve your registration information
      • Account ID: This is your 10-digit Account ID. You can find this number in the registration confirmation email, or through the Sage Customer Portal. Do not include any spaces, dashes, etc.
      • Key Code: The Key Code (or Activation Key) is a string of 23 alphanumeric characters and is not case sensitive.
        • Automatic Activation(recommended): Choose Retrieve my Key Code from Sage Simply Accounting online. You need to be connected to the Internet to use this feature.
        • Manual Activation: Choose Use this Key Code. You will find this Key Code (or Activation Key) after you have logged into the Sage Customer Portal.
    3. After completing the activation screen, click OK. Your software has now been successfully activated.

    *For Premium and Enterprise users only: Please use the same serial number to activate the multiple users you have purchased.

    What do I need to activate my Sage Simply Accounting software?
    You will need to provide four pieces of information to activate Sage Simply Accounting:

    Company Name
    Account ID
    Key Code (or Activation Key)
    Product Serial Number

    Is the Key Code case sensitive?
    No.

    Does the Key Code use all letters of the alphabet?
    No. The Key Code does not use the letters O and I. If a letter looks like an I or an O, try entering the Key Code again using the numbers one (1) and zero (0) instead.

    How do I change my Company Name?
    Please contact Sage Simply Accounting at 1-888-261-9610 if you need to change your company name.

  • Step 4 : Activate Payroll - Optional

    If you subscribe to Sage Business Care Gold or Payroll, you can obtain your Payroll ID when registering Sage Simply Accounting. Your Payroll ID can also be found on your registration confirmation email. To enter your Payroll ID:

    1. Launch Sage Simply Accounting. Under the main Help menu, select Unlock Auto Payroll. Then click on Enter Payroll ID.
    2. Enter your Account ID.
    3. Payroll ID: The Payroll ID a string of 10 alphanumeric characters and is not case sensitive.
    4. Automatic Activation: Choose Retrieve my Payroll ID from Sage Simply Accounting online. You need to be connected to the Internet and current on your Sage Business Care Gold to use this feature.
      Manual Activation: Choose Use this Payroll ID. You will find this in the registration confirmation email if you are a Sage Business Care Gold or Payroll subscriber.
    5. Click OK. Payroll has now been successfully activated.

    Do I have to register Sage Simply Accounting to obtain my Payroll ID?
    You must first register your software and have an active subscription to Sage Business Care Gold to obtain your Payroll ID. Please register online at the Sage Customer Portal or by phone at 1-888-261-9610. You can obtain a Temporary Payroll ID by signing up for the 60-day Payroll trial.

    Does the Payroll ID use all letters of the alphabet?
    Similar to the product Key Code, the Payroll ID does not use the letters I and O. Enter the Payroll ID using numbers one (1) and zero (0) instead.

    Do I have to activate my software before entering my Payroll ID?
    Before you enter your Payroll ID, you must first activate your software by entering your Key Code.

    How do I get a Temporary Payroll ID?
    If you are not yet ready to subscribe to Sage Business Care Gold, you may obtain your Temporary Payroll ID by signing up for the 60-day Payroll trial. At the end of your 60 day trial, you must sign up for Sage Business Care Gold to continue using Sage Simply Accounting to automatically calculate your employees' payroll taxes and source deductions, prepare government T4's, ROE's or RL-1's through print or electronic filing, and review payroll records before preparing T4's with a report similar to the PIER report.
