The Women & Children's Hospital in Buffalo, a Kaleida Health facility, recently received a $10 million gift from industrialist and philanthropist John R. Oishei's foundation, making the organization the lead supporter of a new children's hospital.

In honor of the unprecedented gift, the building will be named the John R. Oishei Children's Hospital. The facility will expand upon services currently offered at the Women & Children's Hospital at Buffalo. Its expected completion date is currently December 2015. The new hospital will be located across the street from the Buffalo General MedicalCenter on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, offering specialized healthcare services for women and children.

"This historic and unprecedented show of support by The John R. Oishei Foundation will ensure families throughout Western New York and beyond will continue to have immediate access to specialized pediatric and women’s health services recognized as being among the best available in the United States," said James R. Kaskie, president and chief executive officer of Kaleida Health.
