WK Kellogg Foundation supports healthy families with $4.6 million investment
October 31, 2012
The W.K. Kellogg Foundation recently announced a $4.6 million investment in Happy Family, a mom-owned and operated grassroots organization that's dedicated to providing children and families with affordable healthy, organic food. This funding was made through the foundation's mission-driven investment (MDI) initiative, which aims to invest $100 million in businesses that will produce both social and financial returns. In particular, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation is seeking out programs that support vulnerable children and families.
With the money from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Happy Family can expand operations, develop new product lines and make its affordable, high-quality organic children's food more widely available.
"It has been phenomenal to have the support of the Kellogg Foundation, which shares a socially minded agenda that includes creating better health outcomes for children and families," said Happy Family founder and CEO Shazi Visram.
