For the fifth year, Subaru of America has opened up voting that will allow its Facebook followers to weigh in on which charitable organizations will benefit from its "Share the Love" event. Individuals who have signed up as "fans" of the automaker can participate in the "People's Choice" voting between August 6 and 26 to help their favorite nonprofit benefit from the $5 million pool of donations the automaker expects to disperse among the five groups selected.

Three organizations have already been selected to receive donations - The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Meals on Wheels Association of America. Facebook Fans can vote once a day to decide between The Alzheimer's Association, American Forests, First Book, Leave No Trace, the Special Olympics and USO.

"'Share the Love' has always been about giving back to our communities in which we live and work," said Subaru director of marketing communications Alan Bethke. "Subaru 'Share the Love' charitable partners have always reflected the values and ideals of our owners.  Empowering our digital demographic via Facebook is a natural extension for Share the Love."
