The Public Welfare Foundation's board of directors has announced the recipients of $5.7 million in grants. The 27 commitments will go to organizations across the country that are advancing social justice programs. For this cycle of contributions, they have allocated $1.3 million for the Juvenile Justice Program, $2.4 million for the Workers' Rights Program and $1.4 million for the Criminal Justice Program. Additionally, they will provide two companion projects under the Special Opportunities Fund with $570,000 to improve civil legal services for underserved communities.

Organizations set to receive funds under the Juvenile Justice Program are the Center on Wrongful Convictions of Youth, the Legal Services for Children, Texas Appleseed, the Correctional Association of New York and the National Juvenile Justice Network.

Grants for the Criminal Justice programs will go toward the Texas Public Policy Foundation, the Pretrial Justice Institute, the Association of Prosecuting Attorneys and the Crime and Justice Institute.

Of the eight organizations that will receive money for the Worker's Rights Program, the top recipients are the American Rights at Work Education Fund, the Partnership for Working Families and the Progressive States Network.
