North Texas Giving Day saw a surge in donations this year, as the volume on contributions increased 180 percent and totals were up 35 percent. In all, more than 900 nonprofits benefited from the event, which encourages North Texans to support area programs through DonorBridge. The web-based platform enables these important organizations to raise funds online.

"We are absolutely blown away by the record?breaking generosity and goodwill of North Texans," said Brent Christopher, the creator of DonorBridge and North Texas Giving Day, and the Communities Foundation of Texas president and CEO. "This is a testament to the strength of our community and our shared desire to make North Texas the most viable, best place to live."

In a total of 17 hours, contributors from 14 countries and every state in the United States participated in the event, bringing in $14.4 million in all. On top of the contributions, a number of prizes were awarded to organizations that received the most donations from unique contributors and those that experienced the biggest increases in donor volumes.
