Although it's rounding out three months since Hurricane Sandy hit the Eastern Seaboard, many individuals, families and businesses are still feeling its impact. This is why the Newman's Own Foundation has contributed additional funds to long-term relief efforts, bringing total grants for disaster recovery to nearly $1 million.

The foundation has provided grants to 11 organizations, some of were awarded directly after the catastrophe to provide those affected with immediate relief. Now, Newman's Own has given another round of grants to nonprofits that can supply long-standing assistance to people. City Harvest, Person-to-Person, The New York Community Trust, Brooklyn Community Foundation, Food Bank for New York City, Project Hospitality, Inc., Connecticut Food Bank, Inc., the Community FoodBank of New Jersey and the Community Foundation of New Jersey all received support through the foundation.

"We are saddened by the hardship felt by so many people along the East Coast in the wake of Hurricane Sandy," said Robert Forrester, president and CEO of the Newman's Own Foundation. "We are grateful to the nonprofits in the region that are extending themselves to serve those in need throughout this difficult time."
