New partnership seeks to find solutions for journalism industry

Mozilla and the Knight Foundation recently teamed up to create a partnership that seeks to engage more people than ever in the news.
The Knight-Mozilla News Technology Partnership recently announced that it will be starting an innovation challenge to reach out to "creative thinkers interested in solving journalism challenges." Those that are named winners of the challenge will be invited to an online and in-person event to help develop their ideas. The initiative seeks to give news organizations new technologies to better appeal to today's market.
"Digital technology evolves daily, changing how people access and interact with the news. Technology has changed what we demand from news and is even affecting journalistic values," said Alberto Ibargüen, president and CEO of the Knight Foundation. "Really successful technology companies are built to handle that. Most newsrooms aren't. This program will help bridge the gap."
The Knight Foundation made other headlines recently after it announced a $4.2 million donation to Northwestern University. The funds will go toward establishing the Knight News Innovation Laboratory at Northwestern.
