The National Women's Law Center (NWLC) recently received a $6 million gift from the Nokomis Foundation of Grand Rapids, Michigan, to support continued operations and assistance for women. Nokomis Foundation chair and founder Mary Caroline (Twink) Frey said the organization chose NWLC for a Legacy Gift because the two groups have similar missions - to empower women and ensure they have a voice with which to speak on behalf of themselves and their families.

"This partnership was an obvious choice for us," said Frey, following the announcements at the NWLC's Annual Dinner in Washington, D.C. The event marked the group's 40th anniversary as well, celebrating its commitment to providing funding and expertise to advance women and girls since 1989.

"The National Women's Law Center and Nokomis are working toward the same values of diversity, inclusiveness, creating opportunities for women in civic affairs and creating the conditions for women to be economically self-sufficient, strong and empowered," Frey added.
