Major funds raised during Colorado Gives Day
December 12, 2011
During the most recent Colorado Gives Day, the Community First Foundation raised $12 million through its online fundraising
For the second year in a row, the organization's site hosted the online event, with more than 52,000 donations to 900 nonprofits, marking a 150 percent increase from a year ago. Nearly half of the donations came in relatively small amounts, in either $50 or $150 pledges.
"The sky was indeed the limit this year," said Community First Foundation president and CEO Marla J. Williams. "The generosity and patience of Coloradans is overwhelming. We especially want to thank the donors who did not let the website issues diminish their outpouring of support for our Colorado nonprofits and thank the large number of new visitors to the GivingFirst site."
According to its website, the Community First Foundation seeks to increase the amount of money given to nonprofits leveraging its online portal. It was first established in 1975 to give support to the metropolitan Denver community.
