Parks across Indianapolis will be receiving a facelift over the next three years as the Indianapolis Parks Foundation distributes a $10 million grant from the Lilly Endowment to improve the city's green spaces. This gift, which is earmarked for the renovation and upgrade of 13 parks throughout Indianapolis, is the largest the foundation has ever received.

The work funded through this grant will include land development of the newly acquired Wildwood Park, as well as new facilities for Tarkington Park and the Frank and Judy O'Bannon Soccer Complex. The Beckwith Memorial, Bel Aire, Bertha Ross, Dubarry, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Gardner, Greene, Haughville and Stout Field parks have also been selected to receive new playground equipment, field renovations, new shelters and restrooms.

"Parks are essential elements of a healthy and fun community," said N. Clay Robbins, Lilly Endowment's president and CEO. "Families and neighbors gather in parks throughout our city to cool off in the summer, have picnics and reunions, play and exercise, and enjoy the changing seasons."
