Ford devotes $10 million to launch Operation Brighter Future - Detroit
December 31, 2012
Ford Motor Company and the Ford Motor Company Fund, its community relations branch, recently announced a $10 million program called
Operation Brighter Future - Detroit, which is a multi-pronged effort to enhance local communities, education and summer job opportunities.
"This is very exciting news for the city and our residents," said Detroit Mayor Dave Bing. "I am extremely grateful for Ford Motor Company Fund's commitment to make such a generous investment in our neighborhoods."
Bing explains that Ford's investments in recreation centers, youth programs and job opportunities will promote a better quality of life for Detroit residents, which is something the local government has been working toward.
The new program includes three major projects - the Ford Resource and Engagement Center, which is the cornerstone of the work; the Patton Recreation Center in southwest Detroit that will expand access to youth athletics and the Brighter Future Summer Camp at Patton Recreation Center. It also earmarks funds for youth employment opportunities, two new chassis for ambulances and projects to turn abandoned sites into parks.
Nonprofit organizations and community works that hope to benefit from large grant-giving opportunities can improve their chances of being selected for awards when they use
nonprofit financial management programs. These solutions can generate data-driven reports for various stakeholders.
