The Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University recently received $5 million from that Nancy A. Nasher and David J. Haemisegger Family Fund, bringing the families' combined contributions up to $16 million. The museum was founded and named in honor of Raymond D. Nasher, Nancy Nasher's late father. This new donation is the largest since the museum's construction in 2005.

"Our family's vision and passion for Duke to have one of the leading university art museums in the country has become a reality," Nancy Nasher said. "David and I are honored to be part of this remarkable institution and to help contribute to its ongoing success and achievements."

The majority of the funds - $4 million - are earmarked for new modern arts pieces to expand the museum's collection. The remaining $1 million is being used for the new Nancy A. Nasher and David Haemisegger Family Visiting Curatorship Fund, which they hope will bring new projects and exhibitions to the museum by inviting leaders in the field to the campus.
