Coca-Cola Foundation grants nearly $10 million to healthy lifestyle initiatives
January 02, 2013
The Coca-Cola Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the world's largest beverage company, granted
$9.9 million throughout 2012 to community organizations and fitness-focused groups that are dedicated to supporting healthy lifestyles.
"Choosing to live healthy, balanced lifestyles is one of the most important decisions we can make," said Lori George Billingsley, vice president of community relations for Coca-Cola Refreshments. "By teaching people how to make good nutrition and fitness choices as part of their daily routine, these organizations are tangibly impacting the health of their communities now and for the future."
This support will continue into 2013, as the foundation will dedicate more than $1 million of this quarter's grants to organizations that support fitness and healthy lifestyles. Some recipients include the Latino Community Foundation in San Francisco ($25,000), the San Antonio Sports Foundation in San Antonio ($25,000) and Diabete Quebec in Montreal ($50,000).
Foundations that support nonprofit programs year-round can use
grant management software to help board members and accountants track funds and recipients as awards are allocated.
