At the recent Health Matters: Activating Wellness in Every Generation Conference, President Bill Clinton and the William J. Clinton Foundation announced 31 pledges that will invest more than $100 million in disease prevention work. This initiative was launched last year following the annual conference, in which the Clinton Foundation decided to focus additional efforts of global health and childhood obesity, one of its core focuses.

"I am grateful to all of this year's participants in the Health Matters Conference, especially those who made pledges to improve health and wellness throughout the United States. These pledges of more than $100 million will impact more than 25 million people," said President Clinton. "I look forward to their implementation."

The Tenet Healthcare Corporation made a pledge to promote healthy lifestyles for employees, patients and hospital visitors through education that will prepare them to make better dietary choices. Other groups that made pledges include The Barbra Streisand Women's Heart Center at Cedars-Sinai, The City of Coachella, BD & Direct Relief International, Gary Mendell, GE and HumanaVitality.
