The Bloomberg Philanthropies' Mayors Challenge will leverage social media to determine the winner of its Fan Favorite competition. The city that wins this accolade will receive a $50,00 in-kind grant from IBM, and will also be recognized when the winners of the Mayor's Challenge are announced.

The Mayor's Challenge was created to stimulate innovative problem solving in cities across America. Bloomberg Philanthropies invited mayors to develop and contribute their best ideas to answering today's biggest issues by starting on a local plane. The best solutions moved forward and there are now 20 finalists. From those, four ideas will be selected to receive $1 million and one project will be awarded $5 million. Ultimately, the winning solutions will be scaled and replicated across communities.

"This first-of-its-kind competition has generated some very exciting and promising proposals," said Michael R. Bloomberg, philanthropist and Mayor of New York City. "Mayors in cities across the country have risen to the challenge of putting forth bold and innovative ideas that tackle some of our nation's toughest issues. Now, we're excited to showcase the 20 finalists and give people across the country a chance to select their favorite."

Nonprofit organizations that hope to benefit from large grant-giving opportunities can improve their chances of being selected for awards when they use nonprofit financial management programs. These solutions can generate data-driven reports for various stakeholders.
