Bid solicitation a win-win for general contractors and subcontractors
April 18, 2011
An extension of Biddingo.com's ePurchasing Portal, the Biddingo Construction Marketplace (BCM), simplifies the bidding process for general contractors (GCs) and subcontractors, according to Constructech.
While Biddingo has offered bid publishing and matching to public sector organizations for decades, this marks the first time it has extended its services to the construction industry, notes the news source.
BCM's bidding structure is similar to eBay, as GCs can broadcast job invites to subcontractors and receive online quotes for the project from a variety of bidders, notes the news source.
According to the media outlet, the company says this process helps GCs avoid a bid-closing day rush and slashes their bid preparation time. Conversely, it helps subcontractors by opening up previously inaccessible business opportunities.
The Ontario General Contractors Association (OCGA) has also jumped on board, by promoting BCM to its members throughout the construction industry.
"We stand behind Biddingo’s efforts in making this concept a reality. BCM has great potential to aid us in accomplishing our mission to offer our members the best technologies and methods with which to do business," said Clive Thurston, President of the OCGA.
